Student Engagement Basketball Activity

$0.00

FREE DOWNLOAD!

 Developed by Amy Lemons

These basketball activities can be downloaded for immediate use in the classroom! You’ll find two basketball themed activities for your students. First, your students will shoot for verb tenses using the verb cards and work-mat. Then, your students will hoop it up with Shootin’ Hoops to Graph.

Here are 3 EASY ways to amp up student engagement:

  1. Incorporate interactive activities into subjects or content areas that tend to be lackluster. For example, writing correct verb tenses can become redundant. Spice it up with a game of Shooting for Verb Tenses! Students toss a basketball (which is just a pom) to determine which verb tense they need to use in a sentence. Adding in that one element of surprise will have your students begging for more!

  2. Encourage collaboration between students. Allowing students to work in teams to collaborate on tasks will increase the level of engagement. If you want to take it a step further, add in a bit of friendly competition. For example, have students play a game of basketball with a partner. They each hold a small bucket and toss a light ball or pom. Students collect data to see how many buckets they made. Then students can use their data to create a graph.

  3. Make the content relevant to the students’ lives, their interests, or current events. I often ask myself, “How can I take the skill I HAVE to teach and make it more meaningful to students?”

IMPORTANT: Our online store will prompt you to enter your billing address to access the download. This is a limitation of the platform. You will not be asked to enter your credit card information and you will NOT be charged. You will receive an email after checkout with a link to download the resource.

All free downloads are licensed for personal use only, in your classroom, or at your school. Downloads may not be sold or used in any products made for sale (ie. Teachers Pay Teachers products).
