About Get Your Teach On

Get Your Teach On (GYTO) specializes in professional development and encouragement for educators and administrators in the form of conferences, workshops and events. Get Your Teach On conferences are known for our passionate celebration of teachers and their ability to inspire life-long learners. Founded in 2016, GYTO now hosts National and Regional Conferences, Virtual Conferences, school and district trainings, and additional events for a wide variety of educators and school administrators each year. GYTO also provides free resources, teacher-focused merchandise, and is the parent organization for the worldwide Rock Your School initiative which encourages out of the box teaching.

Part Time Event Coordinator

Status: Part-Time

Commitment: Approx. 20 Hours Weekly

Get Your Teach On is seeking a Part Time Event Coordinator (Remote) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have event experience, knowledge of large-scale conferences and events, and an understanding of the education field. This position offers flexible hours and opportunities for travel.

Required:

  • Prior experience planning conferences and events

  • Understanding of the various aspects of event planning including hotel room blocks, food and beverage orders, room setups, event schedules, vendor orders, etc.

  • Experience working with hotels, venues, AV companies, and various event vendors

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment leading up to and on-site at conferences

  • Experience working with volunteers, event staff, conference presenters, and high-profile keynote speakers and entertainment

  • Ability to multitask, managing multiple projects and events simultaneously, while consistently meeting deadlines

  • Thorough understanding of Google Workspace/Apps, Microsoft Office, and a basic understanding of Canva and Asana (or other project management software)

  • Availability to join virtual weekly meetings and planning sessions

  • Availability to attend GYTO Conferences in July (July 19-24, 2024) and January (January 17-20, 2025)

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 50lbs, and have a valid drivers license

Bonus (Not Required):

  • Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, or other related field

  • Prior experience in primary education

  • Knowledge of RegFox (or other conference registration platforms), All Seated/Prismm (or other diagramming software), and/or Shopify

  • Experience with events in excess of 6,000 attendees

  • Very basic understanding of conference AV equipment, terms, and setup (ex. How to connect a laptop to a projector, plug in a microphone, etc.)

  • Ability to travel to speaking engagements to set up photo backdrops, materials, etc.
