While attending a training in Las Vegas, Hope King and Deanna Jump decide that there should be a better way to host PD - one that should be engaging and fun for teachers, just like we would expect for our students.

The idea of Get Your Teach On was born!

While still in Las Vegas, Hope King buys and registers getyourteachon.com, officially bringing Get Your Teach On to life!

Less than one year later, Get Your Teach On would host its first conference.

Less than a week after creating Get Your Teach On, we make our public debut on social media with the creation of our first social media accounts. Today, Get Your Teach On has more than 450k followers across our various social media platforms!

The first-ever Get Your Teach On conference is announced for Orlando, FL. Registration would open less than a week later on August 6th.

In less than a month, Get Your Teach On would go from idea to a fully developed conference.

The first ever GYTO conference takes place at The Florida Hotel & Conference Center in Orlando for K-3rd Grade teachers, and sold out. The inaugural conference was featured in a segment on MSNBC.

With demand soaring, Hope expanded Get Your Teach On from the original cap of 3rd Grade to include programming up to 5th grade. Today, Get Your Teach On offers programming for teachers in PreK-8th Grade, as well as instructional coaches, leaders, and special education professionals.

Get Your Teach On Nashville kicks off our first-ever January conference, a tradition we have carried on to this day.

Our next January conference will be in Las Vegas in 2026!

GYTO Live launches at the San Antonio conference. This would be the first of many broadcasts, celebrating teachers and giving away more prizes than one can count. Our most recent live stream on June 1, 2025, gave away over $20,000 in prizes to teachers!

Hope & Wade King’s The Wild Card is released and would become a best-seller and must-read for educators around the country. The book launch was celebrated with an epic book release party at the House of Blues New Orleans, following our GYTO New Orleans conference on January 15, 2018.

GYTO’s first-ever National Conference kicked off on June 24th in San Diego with over 2,500 educators and leaders. In 2025, we anticipate over 6,000 attendees at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas.

We host our first-ever Rock Your School initiative - featuring appearances by Nick Lachey and Paul Stanely. Over 30k educators from more than 20 different countries participated, impacting more than 1,000,000 students. Our Rock Your School tradition continues and will take place in Fall 2025.

ShopGYTO.com officially launches, eventually becoming The GYTO Collective.

Since launching, over 130k pieces of merchandise have been sold, with more than 350k free resources downloaded.

Hope & Wade King’s The Wild Card Kids is released, launching with educators from around the country during our GYTO Los Angeles conference in January 2020.

We would host just two more conferences before the world would shut down with COVID-19.

Like all teachers who had to pivot, we launch Get Your VIRTUAL Teach On, our first-ever virtual conference. This event welcomed over 10,000 teachers virtually!

Our next virtual conference is July 17-18, 2025.

The New EDU Podcast with Hope & Wade King launches, eventually becoming The GYTO Podcast. The podcast filmed weekly in Hope & Wade’s basement! After a brief hiatus, we returned to podcasting in 2024 with The Flip Side Podcast (filmed in our South Carolina studio).

We host the first-ever Mini Get Your Teach On experience for educators in West Memphis, AR. Since then, we have hosted hundreds of professional development days for schools and districts around the country.

Our Gold Star Teacher of the Year program launches. We’re now in our fifth year of this initiative recognizing incredible teachers, with a winner announced every year at the National Conference.

After more than a year without any in-person conferences, GYTO returns to in-person programming with a modified National Conference at the World Center Marriott in Orlando. GYTO will return to the World Center for the 2026 National Conference.

Get Your Teach On launches our first-ever scholarship program with Walden University. This annual contest awards scholarships to multiple educators each year.

GYTO’s first-ever state partnership launches with a multi-year program with the Indiana Department of Education. This date marks the first day of our first Indiana Summer Conference, free for Indiana educators.

After relying on more than 30 storage units, Get Your Teach On breaks ground on our first-ever warehouse. This would be home to GYTO HQ, housing all of our conference decor and materials, and home to the GYTO Collective.

GYTO’s Backstage Pass: Six Steps To Your Best Instruction webinar series and online course launches, offering teachers a comprehensive program for best instructional practices. This would become a base for much of our future programming.

Get Your Teach On debuts our first-ever Engagement Lab at Cedar Crest Intermediate School in Jasper, IN. This cutting edge program transports students anywhere in the world using projection, lights, and sound.

Get Your Teach On is featured on Access Hollywood, bringing national attention to the Get Your Teach On movement.

Joe Jonas and DNCE perform at the 2023 National Conference, kicking off multiple appearances by members of Jonas Brothers as they show their unwavering support for teachers.

GYTO hosts our first-ever Sneaker Ball featuring Boyz II Men. As part of our GYTO Las Vegas conference, the Sneaker Ball has become an annual Las Vegas tradition, most recently featuring 98 Degrees and O-Town.

The Flip Side Podcast premiers on all podcast platforms and YouTube. This is a Get Your Teach On podcast where we breakdown, share, and challenge flipped perspectives and insights on different hot topics in education.

Get Your Teach On hosts our first-ever Teachers’ Night Out with Label-Less: The Musical. We’re proud to partner with Label-Less to bring their message of inclusivity and “walking in someone else’s shoes” to teachers and students.

After countless requests from educators, Get Your VIRTUAL Teach On launches. This is the first fully virtual conference produced by GYTO in nearly five years.
