Kinesthetic movement positively supports cognitive performance and can help your students create stronger connections to content. Perfect for any grade and any content area, Vocab in Motion allows students to break down the key parts of a vocabulary word and create movements to represent each part. Vocabulary is brought to life in the classroom as students plan and perform their definitions, creating a more memorable connection to their work!
This freebie includes the Vocab in Motion planning sheet along with teacher directions. Select a vocabulary word, along with the definition, that your students will focus on. Have students select keywords from the definition, then brainstorm different movements for those words. Students decide on one movement to represent each keyword and put them together in a sequence to perform. Just like that, your students have created a movement based definition of the vocabulary word. Use as a whole group, small group, or individual assignment!
