2022 National Conference: Attendee Information

We’re so excited to come together to celebrate education in less than a week! We’ve collected some of the most requested information about the conference and included it below.

REGISTRATION

Registration will take place on Sunday from 12pm-5:30pm in the Florida A Exhibit Hall. Please follow signage to the Convention Center and take the escalator downstairs to the exhibit hall level. You will just need to provide your name at check-in and a printed confirmation page is not required. If you can’t make it Sunday, registration will continue on Monday morning from 6:30am-8am outside of the Osceola Ballroom.

LUNCH VOUCHERS

The Gaylord Palms will be selling discounted lunch vouchers during registration. We strongly suggest all attendees pre-purchase lunch vouchers during registration as this will be the fastest way to get lunch each day! The vouchers are $19/day (if purchasing all three days) and include your meal, drink, and a candy bar each day. Prices for lunch are higher if you don’t pre-purchase the lunch vouchers during registration!

MERCHANDISE PICKUP

If you pre-ordered merchandise to pick up at the conference, you’ll be able to pick it up Sunday afternoon during registration at the same location. Merch pickup will continue on Monday morning. Look for the sign that says “Merchandise Pickup”.

SUNDAY MIX & MINGLE

Traveling alone? Looking to make new friends? Looking to try and swap grade levels with an attendee? Join us for our first-ever GYTO Mix & Mingle from 12pm-5pm on the Coquina Lawn. This is located adjacent to the Florida Exhibit Hall and registration. Look for the GYTO flags! We’ll have a couple sponsors out there with some fun giveaways, a live DJ, and more!

SUNDAY NIGHT KICK-OFF

The conference will kick off Sunday night with our opening session at 6pm in the Osceola Ballroom. The entire ballroom level with the full GYTO experience will open at 5pm! We encourage you to explore the hotel, attend the GYTO Mix & Mingle, shop our Clearance Merch Shop, or just hang out with new friends prior to 5pm. To keep the hotel as safe as possible, please do not form long queues by the escalators or ballroom entrances.

WHAT TO WEAR

This is one of our most popular questions! GYTO is a casual conference! Many teachers wear jeans, teacher tees, or their favorite sweatshirt! We recommend bringing a sweatshirt or light sweater as the ballrooms can be quite chilly.  The theme for Sunday night (and the conference) is GYTO FEST. We highly encourage everyone to wear their best festival or concert attire Sunday night! Click here for some inspiration! On Monday, everyone should wear their grade level tee!

WHAT TO BRING

Attendees should pack Highlighters, Sharpies, a Glue Stick, Scissors, Post-It Notes, and Markers. You’ll use these items throughout the sessions. Not checking a bag? No worries! Scissors with blades less than 4” long can be placed in carry-on luggage. This means you can bring the scissors your students use with you!

PARKING & SHUTTLE

Parking at the Gaylord is $30 per day for all hotel guests and visitors. Several attendees have reached out inquiring about shuttles to/from their hotel or the airport. Unfortunately, the Gaylord does not offer an airport shuttle. The only hotel shuttle we’re offering is to/from the Delta Hotels by Marriott Celebration (formerly known as the Grand Orlando Celebration). This shuttle is only offered to attendees who booked their room through our room block at that hotel. Attendees who booked through the room block will receive a bus ticket at check in at the hotel. We are unable to extend this shuttle service to attendees who did not book using the link.

DON’T MISS EDDIE B.!

We know teachers like to make fun evening plans, but we don’t want you to miss the Eddie B. Comedy Hour on Tuesday night! Join us in the main general session room (Osceola Ballroom) from 6pm-7pm on Tuesday night!

CLOSING CELEBRATION

Don’t leave the conference early! We don’t want you to miss our Closing Celebration on Wednesday at 5pm!

HOTEL ROOM DOOR DECORATING CONTEST

Have you heard? We’re adding some magic, fun, & PRIZES to your GYTO hotel experience! As you pack your bags for Nationals, get ready for the biggest teacher door decorating contest you’ve ever seen! We’re challenging all GYTO attendees to decorate their hotel door at arrival to show their GYTO Style! Then, throughout the week, our team will surprise select rooms by sliding some incredible prizes & gift cards right under your hotel door! It’s that simple! All you have to do is decorate your door for a chance to win! CLICK HERE to download our FREE Door Decorating Starter Kit which includes 20+ designs & assets to get you started!

GYTO COLLECTIVE - MERCH SHOP CATALOG

One of the most popular parts of the conference is our merch shop! CLICK HERE to download the catalog for our all-new GYTO Collective Merch Shop! You’ll be able to browse many of the products, so you can pick out your favorite prior to getting to the shop!

GYTO COLLECTIVE - MERCH SHOP HOURS

The all-new GYTO Collective will be open during registration for merchandise pickup, clearance shopping, and more! Then, beginning Sunday evening, the GYTO Collective will have its grand opening! The shop will be open in the Citrus Ballroom (across from K-1 and 2nd Grade) each morning from 6:30am-8:00am, during lunch hours, and for two hours after the last session of the day. The shop will close after lunch on Wednesday.

BOOK SIGNINGS AND MEET & GREETS

Our presenters and authors will be available at registration (Florida Exhibit Hall) from 4pm-5pm on Sunday evening. Book signings will continue in the City Hall Lobby (by the escalators) Monday 5:30-6:30pm, Tuesday 7pm-7:30pm, and Wednesday from 12:30pm-1:10pm. Book signing times are subject to change.

BRING THE MAGIC OF GYTO TO YOUR SCHOOL!

Looking to bring your own Get Your Teach On professional development to your school or district? Learn more about our custom professional development options by visiting our Mini GYTO Experience Room. This is located across from the General Session in the Vero Meeting Room. You will be able to pick up materials and speak with our booking team about custom options just for you! This includes booking GYTO speakers, bulk purchasing books, scheduling virtual programs, and developing custom single- and multi-day professional development programs for the entire district! The Mini GYTO Experience Room will be open Sunday evening, each morning from 6:30am-8:00am, during lunch hours, and for two hours after the last session of the day.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Attendees who enrolled in our Special Education Track will attend their Special Education breakout sessions each day at 10:30am in the Naples Meeting Room.

MORNING WORKOUTS

If you signed up for a morning workout session, be sure to join us during your registered time slot (6am-6:30am or 6:40am-7:10am) on the Coquina Lawn. Space is limited, so please only join us if you registered.

DON’T SWEAT THE SCHEDULE!

We provided some padding in this year’s schedules to account for keynote sessions potentially running a little long or it taking slightly longer than expected to get to your content sessions. Because of this, you will receive all content in all your sessions, regardless of if it appears a general session might be running a little long!
